Frog meat is something that not all people are partial to, and I have to say usually I’m not either. However, there sits a relatively nondescript restaurant in the quieter row of shops in SS2 that hails from Geylang Singapore, and serves incredibly fresh frog meat.
The frogs come piping hot in clay pots and are priced at RM12 per frog and are so fresh that there’s none of that weird smell that you might get with frog meat so even the most impartial to frogs will enjoy it.
This one was the Gong Bo Frog which is so delicious but so incredibly spicy that after the first bite, me and my cousin’s lips were absolutely swollen. Apparently according to some food bloggers, the original version from Singapore is even spicier. :\
If you’re not up for something really spicy, tell the waiter to leave the dried chillies out and it’ll be a lot more mellow.
Goes great with rice, especially with all the spicy sauce. :)
The Frog Porridge is also priced at RM12 per frog but personally I prefer to have rice rather than porridge. For me, the porridge is too sticky since they use a mixture of glutinous rice with white rice. BUT fresh frogs are always a plus point. :)
If you like frogs you definitely have to visit this place and if you’re not really a fan you should still consider coming, I really can’t stress enough how fresh the frog meat is over here. :)
Its located on the same row as the Magnum in SS2 and this part of SS2 generally has more parking than the rest.
