It is well documented that us Malaysians love our pork, be it at a fancy continental restaurant for dinner or by the streets on a scorching Wednesday afternoon. Whatever the ambience or the style of cooking, the locals would run at the opportunity of tasting this sinful yet incredible type of meat. One of the ethnics famous for delivering succulent pork dishes are the Germans. At Euro Deli, you are entering into a world of affordable yet astoundingly delicious Swiss German cuisine. On Ronnycakes’ 21st, I brought her to experience what European goodness is all about that can be attained even in our shores.
What’s awaiting at the end of that menu will kept us salivating (and probably greedy too).
3 BFFs keeping us company :)
For starters, we ordered the Mixed Sausages Platter. It comes with 2 or 3 types of sausages of your choice topped with dark gravy, accompanied by a side of potato salad, sauerkraut and hard boiled egg. The sausages were baked to perfection. Slicing them open was a breeze and taking that first bite, heavenly.
There is a wide array of sausages you can choose from; either from the menu or from the open freezer. You can choose from the simple German Pepper to something more adventurous such as Blackforest Bratwurst. My personal favourite would be the Hungarian Sausage as it oozes the right amount of tenderised flavour.
Nothing is complete without the mustard dip.
Sauerkrauts create a refreshing feel as they have a sour flavour blended in them.
Next on the agenda would be none other than the Mixed Roast. It is served with 3 of the most distinctive &famous parts of a pig; knuckles, belly and ribs topped with dark mushroom gravy that creates a smoky flavour. On the side were stewed red cabbage and mash potato.
At first glance, you would notice that its a particularly less oily dish considering that its pork. The meat was really tender in each of the 3 parts.
Now this is the holy grail of pork; the skin. Albeit very sinful, you have to be nuts to not love this thick and crunchy section in all its porky glory.
To conclude, it was an extremely gluttonous meal for the 2 of us as we could barely either dishes that we had to pack home. In all honesty, the portions were relatively huge and even for big eaters like us, it was a long haul. I’d suggest readers out there to make a reservation before going (especially on weekends) as it can get extremely packed.
The moment of need for pork is at the top of your head, Euro Deli has to be place to turn to.
